This work is formed through the encounter between a uniformly painted yellow surface and a square piece of paper marked by chance. The color field shifts from black to reddish brown to yellow, leaving bright areas of untouched space that create a sense of depth within the surface itself. The attached square of paper, in contrast to the flat yellow ground, introduces movement and brings depth and variation to the composition. Thus, the square functions both as a single piece of paper placed on the surface and as a kind of “window” that opens onto an interior space.
In this way, the central square becomes a crucial site where intention and accident, flatness and depth, uniformity and diversity all meet. Here, within the fluctuation of Zensō (Pre-layer), the center begins to emerge, quietly indicating depth and the structural direction of the painting as a “window.”

1994 Mirror (鏡) この作品は均一に塗った黄色い画面と、偶然性の表れた四角い紙との出合いで成り立っています。色面は、黒から赤茶、黄色と変化し、明るい余白を残しているので、 それ自体に奥行きがあるように感じられます。貼られた四角い紙は平坦な画面との 対比で、動きを生み、画面に奥行きと変化をもたらします。そのため、この四角い紙 は黄色い画面の上に貼り付けた１枚の紙であると同時にそこに奥行きのある窓の様 な役割を演じています。
このように、中心である四角形は、意図と偶然性、平面性と奥行き、均一性と多様 性、など絵画のいろいろな要素が出会う重要な場となっています。
ここでは、前層の揺れの中で中心が生まれ始め、 その中心が“窓”として画面の奥行きと構造の方向性を静かに示しています。
