From the automatic lines that first appeared, a blue form was built up across the surface. Against this blue field, the center is formed by pink and brown shapes that function chromatically while also being influenced by the surrounding forms. The dark blue band at the top echoes earlier works and serves to emphasize the picture plane itself. The yellow‑green interacts with the violet‑blue, creating a rhythmic interplay of color.
Compared with earlier works, the center here has become more complex: a pink “window” partially obstructed by an oddly shaped brown form. This flexible interpretation of the center introduces complexity into the composition and enables a richer form of expression. It is both the compositional center and the chromatic center— or perhaps the blue itself could be considered the chromatic center.
Here, within the fluctuation of Zensō (Pre-layer), multiple centers begin to emerge simultaneously, interfering with one another and generating the complex structure of the entire painting.
