About

My studio in the 90s — where the earliest structures of my work were forged.

I have been close to painting since childhood. While interpreting children’s drawings in the past, I encountered what I believe to be the essence of the creativity that everyone originally possesses. In that moment, I realized that the established authority of art had nothing to do with it—and was of no use at all. My pursuit of “the center” is rooted in this awareness. This realization marked the beginning of my attempt to understand pictorial generation through the concept of the “center.”

Throughout my long creative process, I have continuously explored the dynamics surrounding the center of the canvas. The center is not a fixed point, but the nucleus of the phenomenon where visual laws first react. From this, I arrived at the understanding that visual laws have a pre-layer before convergence and a post-layer after convergence.

Seen from this perspective, the history of painting reveals a gap: while modernism pursued what painting is, and postmodernism sought its foundation outside the painting, neither addressed the layer in which the visual laws of painting operate at the moment a work comes into being. My exploration engages precisely with this missing layer and belongs to neither tradition.

Through painting, I pursue universal harmony and serene dynamics. As the culmination of this pursuit, I am currently working on a large-scale piece measuring 2.5 meters.

I opened this site, without relying on existing systems, to move back and forth between reality and reflection. I hope that the experiments here will nourish my next creative work.
